Non-Restorable Contents Valuation in Calgary
A complete, priced list of the belongings that cannot be restored after a fire or flood, so your claim can be settled without guesswork.
When belongings cannot be saved, the claim depends on two things: a complete list of what was lost and a fair value for each item.
Rebuilding a list of everything in a damaged home from memory is hard, and putting a price on hundreds of items is harder. Items get missed, values get guessed, and the claim slows down while everyone goes back and forth.
Calgary Contents documents every non-restorable item as it is identified and researches a comparable replacement for each one. You and your adjuster get one organized, priced list that matches the photo inventory.
Each item on the list includes:
A photo of the item and its damage
Description, brand and model
Quantity and room
Approximate age and condition
Researched replacement value
Why it could not be restored
Why a Priced Non-Restorable List Matters
Adjusters settle non-restorable items from documentation. When the list is complete and each value is backed by a comparable replacement, there is less to question and fewer delays. It also protects you from leaving items off the claim because they were forgotten or thrown away early.
Valuation builds on our photo inventory, where every item is recorded at pack-out. Our guide to non-restorable items explains how restore-or-replace decisions are made.
Valuation helps with:
Faster claim settlement
Fewer missed items
Values backed by research
One list for you and your adjuster
Less paperwork for you
How Contents Valuation Works
- Documentation. Every item is photographed and recorded during the pack-out.
- Restore-or-replace decision. Items that cannot be restored safely or economically are moved to the non-restorable list.
- Item details. We record brand, model, quantity, approximate age and condition.
- Replacement research. We find a comparable replacement and record its current price.
- Priced list. You and your adjuster receive the list in a spreadsheet, matched to the photo inventory.
- Questions and updates. We answer your adjuster’s questions and update the list if anything changes.

FAQ – Contents Valuation
What is non-restorable contents valuation?
It is the work of listing every item that cannot be restored and researching what it would cost to replace with a similar item, so your adjuster has a complete, priced list to settle the claim.
Is this the same as an appraisal?
No. It is a replacement-value list for an insurance claim. Fine jewellery, art and valuable collectibles may also need a formal appraisal from a certified appraiser.
Who decides what my items are worth?
Your insurer settles the claim. Our valuation gives them documented replacement values, with the age and condition of each item, so they can apply your policy.
Do I need receipts?
No, but they help for higher-value items. Photos, order histories and the details we record at pack-out are often enough to identify a like replacement.
Can I keep an item that was written off?
Often, if your adjuster agrees. Ask before anything is disposed of, especially items with sentimental value.
