Restoration Laundry Services in Calgary
Full laundry service for clothing, bedding, towels and linens damaged by smoke, soot, water or odour, sorted, cleaned, deodorized and returned ready to use.
A house fire or flood can leave every closet and linen cupboard in the home needing professional cleaning. Ordinary washing rarely gets smoke and contamination out.
Smoke particles are oily and acidic, and they bond to fibres. Washing smoky clothes at home with regular detergent and a hot dryer often sets the odour for good. Water and sewage bring bacteria and mould risk that need more than a standard cycle.
Calgary Contents offers a full laundry service for restoration work. Every item is sorted by fabric, colour and damage, cleaned with the method that suits it, deodorized and tracked on your inventory until it comes home.
What we launder:
Everyday clothing and outerwear
Bedding, sheets and pillowcases
Towels and table linens
Children's clothing and soft items
Curtains and washable drapes
Work wear and uniforms
Laundry for Smoke, Water and Odour Damage
Smoke and soot: loose soot is removed before anything gets wet, because water turns soot into a stain. Clothes are then washed with deodorizing treatments and checked for odour before drying. Clean water: items are washed and dried quickly to stop mildew. Sewer and flood water: washable items are sanitized; anything that cannot be made safe is documented for your claim.
Items that still smell after washing get odour treatment rather than more washing, which wears fabric out. See smoke odour removal and textile restoration.
Signs your clothes need restoration laundry:
A smoke smell that comes back after washing
Grey or yellow film on fabric
Musty odour after a leak or flood
Contact with sewer or flood water
Mildew spots on stored clothing
How Our Laundry Service Works
- Pack-out and inventory. Clothing and linens are packed by room and recorded on your photo inventory.
- Sorting. Items are sorted by fabric, colour, care label and type of damage.
- Pre-treatment. Loose soot is removed and stains are treated before washing.
- Washing and deodorizing. Each load gets the cleaning and odour treatment it needs; contaminated items are sanitized.
- Quality check. Items are checked for odour and stains before drying, and rewashed or treated if needed.
- Finishing and return. Clothes are folded or hung, packed and returned early or with your pack-back.
Why Choose Calgary Contents for Restoration Laundry
Restoration laundry is not a laundromat job. Smoke, soot and contaminated water need the right sequence: soot off first, then cleaning, then deodorizing, with heat kept away until the odour is gone. Every item is tracked from pack-out to return, so nothing goes missing and your adjuster sees exactly what was cleaned. See how it fits into our contents restoration process.

FAQ – Restoration Laundry
Can smoke smell be washed out of clothes?
Usually, yes, with the right process. Soot is removed before washing, clothes are washed with deodorizing treatments and kept away from high dryer heat until the odour is gone. Heat can set smoke smell permanently.
Can clothes from a flooded basement be saved?
Most washable clothing can, if it is cleaned quickly. Items soaked by sewage or flood water need sanitizing, and some porous items are safer to replace. See what to do with flood damaged clothes.
Do you handle large volumes?
Yes. After a fire or flood, a household can have hundreds of garments and linens. Everything is sorted, tracked on your inventory and returned clean, folded or hung.
Do I get my clothes back before my home is repaired?
Often, yes. Clothing and linens you need day to day can be cleaned first and returned early, while everything else waits in storage until pack-back.
Is restoration laundry covered by insurance?
When the loss is covered, cleaning your clothing and linens is usually part of the contents portion of the claim. See what home insurance covers in Alberta.
What about dry-clean-only items?
They go through our dry cleaning service instead of the washer, along with suits, wool, silk and other delicate fabrics.
